Myths, legends, and folktales have been passed down from generation to generation since...like...EVER...

Heroes, animals (heroes who ARE animals..) gods..(gods who turn into animals and rape people...) and monsters..who eat you.

They all (believe it or not) provide a way of addressing questions about the origins of life, death, and the universe, and reveal a unique view into the cultures of which they hail from.

GUESS WHAT!..ALL the continents have at least one myth, legend, or folktale to their name *gaspers!* Except people don't really count Antarctica because TECHNICALLY..it doesn't have a native culture...

But HEY! I bet in a couple of years, a huge glacier is going to melt, and reveal a toe.
THEN that toe is going to be reunited with its foot, and they'll keep digging (chiseling) away, until they find they whole body.  Then, hey this is a body! No way! Yes way! (yes, these are our future archeologists) Nuh uh. Yuh huh!
Then they'll try to put the body into a tribe,and the people will be like "I don't know who the fuck this is, he ain't my ancestor. Get your ass outta here before I shoot you".
The archeologists are going to run away crying, but then decide to make up a tribe, stick they guy into that culture, make up some myths to go along with the guy and how me got trapped and why he thought he could escape the killer ant by freezing himself in a huge glacier.

And there you have it....The reason Antarcitica is called ANTarctica...and...Antarctica's first native culture. All FAKE but, nonetheless, Antarctica's first native culture.

But like I was saying before...
There are a number of ways to look at myths, legends, and folktales.  There are religious connotations, moralistic, narrative, and just plain boredom, so you decided to tell a story to scare the neighbor's kid away because the little bastard keeps following you! *clears throat*

So, anyway, this page is going to have sub pages..which will each be of a different stories.  Maybe I'll group them by continent, or country, or maybe underlying message.  Eh...I'll decide later..or if you have suggestions..go right ahead! Comment! Be my guest!
